Most fuel stocks require no pre-sorting or handling. Even unsorted municipal solid waste (MSW), industrial waste, office waste, tires and pallets can be processed on-site, eliminating transportation costs and the undesirable environmental effects of traditional disposal methods. High density waste streams like oil sludge and animal wastes can also be processed cost effectively when properly handled.

In the US alone, we generate almost 250 Million tons of MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) annually. At an average of 4500 Btu's per pound and more than 4.5 pounds generated per person per day, this waste stream represents the energy equivalent of 15 billion gallons of oil when exploited for its energy values. Rather than burying carbon wastes in the ground, we should be making the most of this renewable source of energy. Incineration is inefficient and dirty. Competing technologies are too expensive and offer no answer to rising transportation costs.
